A collaborative project of Origami & Art as Spiritual Practice with Interfaith Ministers, Lainie Love Dalby & Lisa Bellan-Boyer, as well as the 88 graduates from the One Spirit Seminary Class of 2011.

The Community of Collaborators
The 2011 Graduating Class of One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in NYC has been writing their prayers inside classic white & gold origami papers over the course of the last two years to be folded into peace cranes. These thousands of peace cranes will be made into a ceremonial garment, The ARmaTure for Prayer, by the artist and designer Lainie Love Dalby, to don during our commencement and ordination ceremonies this June.

Interfaith ministers are people of different religious traditions, and spiritual or humanistic beliefs, pledged to work and serve with a concentration on similarities between diverse faiths, understanding of mutual values, and compassionate commitment to the world.

As the members of our interfaith community have written prayers and folded the cranes, the prayer has been breathed into each crane, by the folder, just as the Creator breathes life and the Spirit into each creature – so the prayers in this garment will have been lived, written, folded, breathed, and then constructed and worn, in a series of rituals centered on global prayer. At a time when our planet is facing a great deal of disaster and turmoil, there is no better time or place than to carry these prayers out into the world, here and now.

For FIGMENT NYC 2014, Urban Priestess & Soul Sculptor, Rev. Lainie Love Dalby, performed the immersive & interactive ritual happening The S.A.N.C.T.U.A.R.Y. (The Sacred And Nurturing Container To Uphold And Remember You)

Breaking free from the traditional structures of what sacred space looks like and where interaction with the Divine occurs, the artist and her long time visionary creative partner One-half NelSon recreated & re-contextualized sanctuary, 'the part of a church around the altar,' as a wearable sculpture that became a part of the artist's body and simultaneously that of the body of humanity. With this elaborate 'ARmaTure,' the artist was transformed into a moving beacon of light, hope, love and deep sustenance for those who choose to interact in the performance and even for those witnessing it from afar.

Lainie Love - part modern day preacher, part magical sorceress, & part wounded healer - then invited festival-goers to be "blessed" within this re-imagined sanctuary in an intimate one-on-one interaction, what she has coined as 'living art,' that activated all 12 of their senses, connected them to the metaphysical, and brought reverence to the great masterpiece that is their life. It became a playful container for meaningful interaction while promoting overall awareness of our shared human condition and propelling the viewer towards inner transformation and heart-based living, fueled by the belief that everyone matters and deserves to know that they are both profoundly worthy and deeply loved. Overall, they left with a polished heart, Sparkling Shamelessly in the world!

The S.A.N.C.T.U.A.R.Y. was not only a highly interactive and experiential work, but it was simultaneously making a statement about art's purpose in the conscious transformation of our world while returning art to its ancient function as a sacred practice -- one that involves remembering ourselves and allowing the lines between art and life to blur and become one.

The Fiery Gate of Cosmic Mystery - 4 ft x 23 in - Shamanic Healing Art Mandorla with paint, thread, starfish, painted fingernails, cowry shell, acorns, rose petals, menstrual blood and yoni juice stained white silk, found wood, selenite wand, geode, and a quartz crystal point. - I believe in the power of art-making as a form of prayer & communion with the Divine. Each offering of sacred he(art) is an opportunity to journey into my inner landscapes & mine the beauty & wisdom of the soul in order to bring forth my deepest expressions of wholeness and the embodied truth felt deep in my bones, all while holding the intention for individual and global healing. This archetypal & symbolic work is an expression of my own personal Yoniverse as well as the collective. It is the fierce seat of power and creative manifestation that gives birth to new life again and again, always sparkling SHAMELESSLY.

Healing Huts for O.P.R.A.H. (Open Prayer, Recommendation And Hugs) served as the centerpiece of The Diamond Den NY immersive installation, where participants were invited to crawl into this sacred sculptural artifact, so that they could release their suffering, self-examine, forgive and learn to ‘live their best life’ — as the minister Lainie Love, and other revered spiritual leaders listened and connected to each person on a raw human level.

The Diamond Den: NYC was the first of a series of exhibits from Rev. Lainie Love Dalby’s new social sculpture project, TEEM Gorgeous. This audience-interactive immersive installation was based on the Diamond Core Process for self-development, drawing participants into their own web of self worth, inner greatness & authenticity. Viewers played with the rules and delved viscerally into the textures of the diverse artworks & ritual objects in this architectural fetishistic bricolage with layered pop culture references, melodic soundscapes, bold movements, & intoxicating scents. Participants witnessed the product of art being raised to an all-encompassing experience, where elemental works were blessed in performance & transformed into a form of sacred memorabilia from a sublime tourist experience, ranging in price from $20 to $10,000.

Healing Huts for O.P.R.A.H. (Open Prayer, Recommendation And Hugs) served as the centerpiece, where participants were invited to crawl into this sacred sculptural artifact, so that they could release their suffering, self-examine, forgive and learn to ‘live their best life’ — as the minister Lainie Love, and other revered spiritual leaders listened and connected to each person on a raw human level. All performances were done in collaboration with Choreographer Lynsey Peisinger, all soundscapes were done in collaboration with One-half Nelson & 10% of all the artists’ proceeds went to Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way Foundation.’
